Bio

Hello! My name is Rich. I'm a math teacher by day but a music lover by night (and always). For me, teaching's not just a job that pays the bills. I truly love my work as an educator. It gives me a unique opportunity to empower my students in a way that would be impossible if I made my passion for music into a career.

That said, music is a very important part of my life, and this personal website is dedicated to my musical endeavors. To make a long story short, I am primarily a DJ, producer, audio engineer, sound designer, record collector, and historian. I grew up with a deep passion for hip hop music, which involved listening, learning, and creating. That somehow transformed into an equally deep passion for jazz later on in life. Today I typically spend my spare time collecting vintage jazz records, making ambient electronic music, DJing, and working to preserve the legacy of recording engineer Rudy Van Gelder and his studio.
